Chloé Durand '15 has been awarded a Fulbright grant. Chloé is a 2019 graduate with Honors from the University of Arizona, receiving two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in Political Science and one in Global Studies.
Chloé writes, "In August I will head to Macau, a special administrative region of China, to serve as an English Teaching Assistant as part of my Fulbright grant. The purpose of the Fulbright program is to increase mutual understanding between the United States and other countries across the world. I'm excited to explore the cultural dualism of Macau, as it used to be a Portuguese colony before being returned to Chinese sovereignty in 1999. Similar to how in Tucson there are radio stations, newspapers and signs in both Spanish and English, the same is true in Macau where it's common to see both Mandarin and Portuguese. I hope to connect these transnational similarities to facilitate a relationship based on respect and common values."
Congratulations, Chloé, and we are excited to continue watching your successes unfold!
