Job Overview

The Gregory School has a 6th grade through 8th-grade mathematics curriculum that sequences students through Math 6, Math 7, Pre-algebra, and Pre-algebra Plus. There is a possibility of teaching some upper school classes at the freshman level.

The successful candidate will teach material from any of the Middle School math course offerings. Effective candidates design, sequence, and deliver lessons that empower students to connect and apply new learning. The curriculum and assessment models used at the Gregory School are based on current best practices to maximize cognitive mathematical development in our students.

Being part of The Gregory School community includes creating Friday exploration courses and interim week activities that extend learning beyond the classroom curriculum.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Middle School team, prepare lessons in accordance with TGS Middle School Science Curriculum.
  • Make use of many, varied formative assessment tools, including retrieval practice, to judge student progress towards a secure knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply.
  • Make effective use of Google Classroom and Powerschool for communication with students and parents in relation to assignments and grades.
  • Work as an effective team member as part of the Middle School Science Team.
  • Communicate with parents appropriately as needed.
  • Utilize effective classroom management skills.
  • Advise a group of 10-13 students.
Qualifications

Candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
  • Prior experience teaching science in middle or upper grades
  • Teacher certification preferred
  • Ability to work well with people, especially adolescents
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
